You may need to make an appointment or wait in line to go to the barbershop for a haircut. The worst thing is that when the barber cuts people according to the designed hairstyle, and he can't cut the hair exactly according to your idea. There will always be a certain error.
3D printing technology inspired me to design a fully automatic haircutting equipment. The equipment consists of two parts, divided into hair styling system and haircutting system. The haircut system can automatically identify and read the initial parameters of the user's hair, and the user only needs to input the initial parameters of his hair and head shape into the hair styling system. When operating on the hair styling system, users can design a set of their favorite hairstyles for themselves on the screen on the hair styling system, or they can choose the hairstyle models recommended in the system. After the hairstyle is designed, the hair styling system automatically builds a model of the head. The user waits for the hair styling system to transmit instructions on the haircutting device, and performs the haircut after the user confirms. The operating equipment on the hairdressing system accurately arranges and modifies the hairstyle based on the hair model, just like 3D printing technology, and finally gets the designed hairstyle.

Pay attention to the following points:
(1) The hairstyle recommended by the hair styling system must be determined according to the user's hair and head shape parameters.
(2) The haircutting system must be able to stop operation in time under abnormal conditions and protect the safety of users.

Hi Deru Xu thanks for sharing your idea. Although it sounds interesting, I struggle to see how this could be achieve. Could you link any resources on existing technology that could be used or adapted for this? Hair cutting is a relatively complex task as styling depends on the shape of the face, head and hair of each person, and even different types of hair. Additionally, hair manipulation is not that physically simple and demands precise reaction to the movement of the hair. Can you or anyone else propose a way in which to address those issues in order to generate a reliable, effective method the hair cutting? Also, how do we model something as thin as hair so that this device can identify it as more than a homogeneous shape, considering we have literally millions of independent hairs that need to be accounted for?

In this recent session (https://brainstorming.com/robotic-haircut-helmet/531) there was already some discussion on this topic without reaching a clear conclusion. Would you mind sharing your ideas there so we can concentrate the efforts in a single session?
