Filter out certain types of music on music streaming platforms by activating different filters. E.g., don't allow the app to play you sad songs or romantic songs or electronic dance songs, etc.
Sometimes you're just totally not in a mood for sad songs (or any other type of music), but the app might still throw them at you. You then have to try and find playlists/artists, etc. that would surely not be annoying for you or turn the music off completely.
This would allow you to play any playlist/album/artist (or an app to choose for you and play automatically from recommendations/similarities list) but without the types of music you surely don't want to hear.
Knowing what you don't want is often easier than knowing what you want. Find what you want by first removing what you don't want.
You describe (preferably in a few words) what type of music you don't want to hear in a dedicated text box. The function shows you the words "Don't play me..", then you finish the sentence with anything you want from simply "metal", "jazz" or "sad music" to more sophisticated descriptions like "nostalgic movie songs" or "depressive 80's breakup songs" or whatever.
For this to work the algorithm would have to be pretty sophisticated to both understand what you (don't) want and identify certain music as such, it would have to analyse both melodies and song lyrics, not to mention musical genres. It could, however, start with a few basic, most popular options, like "sad", "angry", "happy", etc. to choose from and later be developed into one capable of distinguishing more sophisticated demands.
When you activate a certain filter, whatever you play yourself or the app picks for you will be filtered through it and certain songs end up skipped. If you search for individual songs, those that fall into the filter category will be dimmed and not available to play until you deactivate it.
Similar feature could be applied for filtering out (non-musical) youtube videos, social media posts, etc.
