Being a lead role in two high school musicals was one of the memories I look back on most fondly. If Economics didn’t exist, I definitely would have pursued acting as a possible career option. It wasn’t until 7 or 8 years later however until I realized that there are professional actors everywhere you look, they just arn’t on the movie screen. Acting is one of Americas biggest industrys, and anyone who takes on financial risk has to have a great poker face.
Where can acting be applied in our society that would do the most benefit? On the top of my list is public four year universities, specifically in new York state (the SUNY system). Public universities have all the educational requirements that more prestigious universities have. Where they lack is the quality of the conversations amongst students and the atmosphere in the classroom. Many people go to public universities who are not motivated to excel and are just doing “what society tells them to do”.
I propose that fake students infiltrate the classroom of these universities and act as if they were at Harvard. This will create the energy required to motivate the unmotivated to learn and become better people.
