A desktop workstation that doubles as a multi-purpose gym bench. Build a habit of working out while working.

The one featured in the header image supports the following exercises:
  • leg curl
  • leg extension
  • bench press
  • inclined bench press
  • shoulder press
  • weighted squats
  • back row
  • lat pulldown
I basically cut and welded together Tunturi WT80:

and a Body-Solid GCEC340:

I made a custom table that holds the keyboard/mouse and welded it above the leg machine.

Voila, the final product:

Something like this could be sold as a ready-made product. People could assemble it ikea style. An universal monitor holder could be a part of the package.

You could add a "Desk Bike"

I love this idea and would definitely like to have one of these for myself as well. Apart from the physical benefits, we now know that physical exercises could also be beneficial to your creativity, so your work will also reap the rewards.

I was looking at a desk bike the other day, I decided against getting one, but I could see it as a nice addition to your setup. The main problem I had with the small ones was the size of the rotation of the peddles, it seemed like you would get minimal exercise from such small movement. To make it resemble a real stationary bike more, the entire setup, including the desk and your chair would need to be lifted. I also think the leg extensions might be in the way. I don't know if the benefit of such a "bike" will justify making such big changes, but still, it's a nice idea to involve a type of cardio as well.

Many years ago a cybercafe in my town had a computer mounted on a bike. You had to peddle to generate power for the monitor:)

Working in front of the computer for a long time without exercise can easily cause shoulder and neck pain. Your idea is very creative. If you can exercise at work, it can be good for fitness and health. I think it is possible to add a fitness time reminder function on the workbench, which can not only work out but not delay work.
