An app that lets tourists going to a country partner up with locals going to the same places as them allowing them to get a more authentic experience and minimize the expenses for both parties.
Why?
  • During the pandemic, a lot of people had to suspend their vacations or push them forward due to travel restrictions. Well, travel restrictions are becoming looser so now would be the perfect time for that trip.
  • The rising cost of living plus reduced income during the pandemic means that you can't spend as much as you would like on recreation.
  • It could be a chance to interact with a variety of new and interesting experiences. You might learn alot or get a new viewpoint on life
  • I rationalize that when visiting a place, the locals are the only people who can give you the most immersive experience on food, culture and sights at the best prices since tour companies are paid off by the big hotels to deliver tourists there.
  • It's also more sustainable since you support small businesess in the area and reastart cash flow in small communitied directly.
How it works
Think of it like carpooling for tourist destinations. You find people going to the same place as you then coordinate your flights, book hotels and agree on day plans. By using the locals inside knowledge to get the best group deals on everything, everyone is able to have fun in the most economic and sustainable manner.
When you finally get there you can visit the places a normal person would go, eat food in the way normal people would and sleep at places a normal person would.

Domestic tourists usually pay discounted rates at public parks and reserves while external tourists pay full price and that can't be changed. Once those rates have been established all other expenses follow that trend. By freeing yourself from the businesses opened specifically to serve tourists and instead use normal shops you get more worth for your money.
By partnering up, foreign tourists can opt-out of large expensive services and use small inexpensive services instead. Due to the difference in currencies, working with these small businesses greatly improves their financial position.

How would you prevent the service from being overrun by people trying to make money off of tourists? For example tour guides, escorts, etc. People that aim to accompany tourists for profit would destroy the service's reputation or turn it into a different kind of service (if still useful to tourists).

Darko Savic That's the trick, you have to be going somewhere too and cannot be affiliated with any park whatsoever. With escorts, it gets a little difficult since you can't verify if someone is an escort or not. Even if you could prove they were, and both parties were aware of it, I'm not sure if you have any authority to stop it.
But for security, there could be a background check for entry since human traffickers are also a possibility. I think a cashier system would be great where the combined budget is entrusted to the app account instead of the participating parties. They could submit bills and the app would then pay for them.

Contrived _voice it would be helpful to have a feedback/review system where people write a few words about their experience with others.

Darko Savic yeah, a referral system is another great way to create trust.
A question, do all countries give their citizens a good conduct certificate? I think not having a criminal record is another way to build trust in the system

Contrived _voice I think China has such a system in place. I haven't heard about it in Europe.
The app could do KYC (know your customer) and verify people's ID via video chat. For people to be comfortable with something like that they would have to really want to join in. I don't think the app is compelling enough for people to be comfortable identifying themselves like that.
