Bounties attract serious brainpower to the challenge.

An app that lets people mark the time and GPS location where they found wild berries or mushrooms. In the next season, they get a notification to revisit the location and collect the wild produce again.
Why?
Easy, free food every season.
How it works
An app that saves a specific location's GPS coordinates, time, a photo or video, and a description that you write about the location.
A few days before the peak of next season (same time next year) you get a notification to remind you that it's time to revisit the same area and pick what has grown.
Some mushrooms grow multiple times per year. If that's the case, you should figure out when the additional season(s) will be and set multiple notification alarms for each location.

Perhaps, if you found something that you would like to collect later, whether it be because it still needs to grow, or simply because you can't take it at the time, you could geographically tag it to show that someone has already "claimed" that specific find. Of course, you won't have any real right to it, you could simply hope that some other forager who also uses the app pays you the courtesy of leaving it.
Alternatively, users could collectively build a map of all the edible plants in their areas, allowing them to use other people's maps when visiting new areas where they might not know the local plants or simply don't know where to look.

Plant seeds and get notified when it's time to check on them

The same app could be used when planting seeds on public land. You would get notified when it's time to harvest or tend to the plants. This is especially useful for people who don't have the land for gardening. They could take a hike somewhere off the beaten path and sow the seeds on the way.
