A text editor that requires you to write a new paragraph before you can switch to any other app. Once you enter the editor, there is no more multitasking until you produce some work.
Why?
  • Prevent yourself from multitasking when you should be writing.
  • Produce some work before you can consume content or distract yourself with other apps.
  • Make some progress between distractions.
How it works
Once you open the text editor you are unable to leave it unless you write a new paragraph. Everything other than the editor is blurred out in the background.
Until you write at least a pre-defined number of words you are unable to minimize the editor. You can only maximize or increase its size.
The copy/paste function is temporarily disabled until you write a new paragraph.
GPT3 checks your sentences to make sure they mean something and you didn't just type some gibberish to break free from the editor.
It's obviously still easy to type a meaningless paragraph just to get out of the editor, but then why would you install it at all? This is meant for people that want to produce work but are easily distracted.

Perhaps an approach that could be more universal is to reward accomplishing pre-set goals. The tracker will come in the form of a background app or extension that simply tracks your work time and rewards you when reaching certain milestones.
For instance, after you have replied to a specific number of emails you would receive one of a preset list of rewards. So, after 50 emails you might get a notification telling you that you have earned a break. Or on a larger scale, after you've typed 50 000 words you allow yourself to spend money on something you've been wanting. These rewards would obviously be self-regulated, so you would still need some self-discipline, but gamifying the process might be quite motivational.

What if I need some statistics from the other file, results of an old experiment (while writing scientific papers), external web link, picture, or other content not reachable via software tools?

Juran Right. This editor would be useful to creative writers rather than data analysts, accountants, etc. It would be useful for pulling stuff from your brain rather than external sources.
Write a paragraph first, then fetch your data, then write again.
