One of the challenges of gathering waste products that can be recycled is having to sort them so they can be separated from waste that can not be recycled. Here we propose the use of aromas to sort materials that can be recycled. The companies that manufacture products that can generate recyclable wastes will be obligated to add materials that give aromas that will be used to identify them as recyclable wastes during waste collection.

The use of smell is suggested as an indicator because both animals and machines(through artificial noses ) can sense smell. It will make it possible to train animals with an acute sense of smell to find and collect waste products.

The materials that generate the aromas should be placed on the inside of the recyclable objects so that they only give off their smells when they have been used and disposed of.

The design of recyclable materials can be done so that there are rare elements that can be tracked by their smell and how they reflect radiation. this can make the sorting of wastes to be automated more easily.
