What could the web domain 5kg.com be used for? It's short, memorable and currently for sale. It only lacks a good business idea. I'm considering building something on it.

Don't know how practical that would be. Most people don't have space in their house for several 5kg packets of groceries, right? Also, most things could spoil before you've used the 5kg. A way I could see this work is if the business was an ingredient provider for restaurants, for example, but then I imagine some restaurants would want way more product than 5kg in some cases.

I made a similar contribution starting from this idea but tweaking it a bit, let me know if you like it ;)

Manel Lladó Santaeularia That's why a wholesale store. Only the people who need those big quantities like retailers and hotel/ restaurant owners (like you mentioned) will order from the site. Individual households can buy from the retailers.

Selling and delivering 5kg of food for a standard price

I envision a business that sells several kinds of foods and delivers them to your house as a 5kg package. Inside that 5kg package you can divide the weight however you want, and you pay the same price. Obviously there should be different package prices depending on the kind of food/ingredients inside. For example: -Cheap pack: includes essentials like rice, quinoa, pasta (all of them with different kinds), flour, beans, veggies and fruits.
-Medium-cost pack: includes ingredients like cheese, meat, fish, nuts, avocados, chocolate.

So you would order a pack and you could choose what's inside. For example i could order a cheap pack with 1Kg of white rice, 1kg of basmati rice, 500g of quinoa, 500g of spaghetti, 1kg of beans, 1kg of flour. This would have always the same cost independently of what I order, and would be delivered in a 5kg package to my home. I would avoid buying and carrying those heavy, everyday ingredients, home. The price would be the same if I decided to compose my pack differently, and the total weight would always be the same.

To take this idea further, how about people can order any kind of grocery as long as it adds up to 5 kg? The price will be then dependent on what you have in the package. The reason behind 5 kg is to accommodate the delivery cost. Anything below 5 kg can be charged with a delivery charge.

I like the idea. I think the prices may differ when you change the composition of your 5-kg package. For example, there is a significant difference in the prices of Basmati and white rice.
