A straw hat with real grass growing on it.

It's made of two layers with some soil and grass seeds pressed between them. The bottom layer is water-tight. You water it to get the seed started a week before you plan to wear it. Thereafter you water it once per day.

Why?

I'm not really sure. This idea came to me in a dream:) It seems suitable for beach parties or burning man type of venues.

If you are going to be in direct sunlight for a while and don't mind looking silly, the grass actually provides better protection from the heat.

Birds would sure be interested to land on it if you sat still enough for a while. Then you could have your pictures taken with them on it - some additional coolness:) Also, maybe it would even be possible to train the birds to stay sitting on it while you walk. Similarly to a steampunk trend where people sometimes carry cats or rodents sitting on their shoulders, this could become a novel "bird domestication" trend.

There are some birds that like to sit on the owner's shoulder while they walk around. A hat with an actual nest, with a bird that doesn't mind being carried around would be amazing:)
