Last decade has been one of rising in antibiotic resistance of some pathogenic bacteria, associated with the emergence of multi-drug-resistant bacteria (Côté 2019). By 2050, most available antimicrobials will lose their effectiveness, with approximately 10 million deaths each year (World Health Organization, WHO) 2019), leading to an intensified search for new antimicrobials sources (chultz et al. 2020). Can medicinal plants be reliable sources for the development of new antimicrobials? If so, how and under what conditions?
