Why?

How it works
Provide young people and students minimum wage jobs, funded from the public budget. Put them in crews of 2 or 4 and have them go around residential areas, offering free assistance to anyone in need.
The help teams go door to door, asking residents if they need assistance around the house or if they know someone nearby who needs it more. They cannot be called upon or booked. They randomly find people to help.
A team can dedicate up to a few hours of work to each household they encounter. In cases where the job is too difficult or requires more time, the team consults with a manager. The manager can then:
  • Explain that the crew is limited to a few hours per household and that the scope of the work required is beyond their abilities
  • Schedule multiple crews to work on the project the next day
The crews are polite and kind. Their job is to go around performing labor-intensive good deeds all day, every day.
Tips
The helping crews donate half of the tip money they receive to local homeless and animal shelters.

Great idea. The crew can target areas with senior citizens or single women who need male chores done. They can establish a crew with different talents/offerings. As an example, one person in the crew will keep you company or go on a date with you. Another person will do domestic chores and a third will do mechanical work.
