A large vending machine where independent vendors can rent individual compartments and sell whatever to passersby. Basically real-life Etsy.
A new money-making opportunity for the business owner.
Opportunity for small-time vendors to make money.
Opportunity for creators to test if people would buy their creations.
Such large vending machines (as shown in the header image) are not new, but they are rare. From what I was able to find they are used by a few farms in Europe to automate the sales of their produce.
The idea is to make every compartment an independent unit that vendors could rent via an app. They would get full control of their compartment, set their own price and place inside whatever they wish to sell.
Buyers type in the compartment number, pay for it, and the door unlocks.
When the item gets sold, the vendor is notified via the app. They can either restock their compartment or cancel their lease so that other people can rent it.
Such vending machines could be placed in areas that are heavy in pedestrian traffic. Bus stops, shopping malls, etc.
A granny could bake a pie and sell the extra slices to other residents via the vending machine placed in the building's lobby. I imagine college dorms, large residential buildings, big companies, etc, where the community members can sell stuff to each other.
