A web browser plugin that automatically finds the right scientific references for the highlighted sentences or paragraphs as you write. Fact-checking while writing made easy.
Why?
  • While writing, easily find something you vaguely remember.
  • A tool that helps you fact-check your sentences/paragraphs while writing.
How it works
A web browser plugin that recognizes when you are writing something into a text box or an editor. You can highlight a sentence or a paragraph and use the "reference finder" feature.
In the background, GPT3 rewrites your text into multiple different variants and then searches all the scientific databases for close matches. The top 5 closest matches are suggested. You can follow the links to the respective sections/papers. Or if you know the right paper was suggested you can simply click to include the reference in your text.
What if there are no references to be found?
If the plugin finds no references, you might need to formulate your sentences diffrently and try again. Or do more research because your statements lack scientific backing.

That's a great idea. Also, on a similar note, scientific literature databases (I mainly have experience with PubMed) do not work that great when searching for a specific article. They could really use an improvement. If I know the subject, first author and/or the date, usually it is easier to find it in google than in PubMed.

Something much primitive exists - The reference finder. They can do better. They don't have a plugin as far as I know.
