A doormat that measures everyone's weight paired with a screen that displays a stock market type of graph for every household member's weight over time. Compare how everyone maintains their weight and keep them accountable to one another.
Why?
  • Notice when you're doing damage to your body sooner rather than later.
  • Stay motivated by keeping your eyes on the prize.
  • Be accountable to other household members.
  • Compete with other household members in order to achieve better results.
How it works
A weighing scale is built into the doormat. Everyone steps on it when they come home.
Upon first use, everyone configures their settings with the ideal body weight they would like to achieve/maintain.
The doormat can recognize different household members in various ways. I'm still thinking about what the simplest way would be. Maybe an RFID chip pendant on the keychain of each household member. Facial recognition would require a more difficult installation process and lighting.
As soon as people step inside, they see a screen on the wall. It displays weekly, monthly, and yearly weight graphs for all household members.
It displays your best and worst day/date. It displays a leaderboard to indicate which household member is the best at maintaining their optimal weight

A different location for more accurate and standardized measuring

A modified bathroom rug placed in front of the sink in the bathroom would be a better option as with the doormat you'd have people weighing in with their shoes, jackets, backpacks, bags, belts...
The bathroom rug would be great as that is where everyone's day starts and ends usually, when brushing teeth. A smart mirror could be used as the screen. Connected with the other mirrors in the household.
It's also a great way of standardizing measurements because you enter and exit the house at various times, with different levels of hydration. With bathroom check-ins, in the morning you'd have approximately the same level of hydration, while at night you'd get some sense of how much did you ate throughout the day.
Further down the line, it could be possible for a smart bathroom to block the user from using some of its functions if he doesn't reach his target goal for over a week. So something like block opening of the cabinet behind the mirror, possibly the hairdryer, definitely not the flushing :). You could even make the faucets unavailable until you get measured for the day to ensure commitment and consistency. Somewhat similar to the idea I recently had for blocking credit card purchasing of clothes.

Agreed. The bathroom sink is a more suitable place👍 How about this one: no hot water for you if you go out of allowed weight range:)

Is the weighing optional or mandatory?

I think some people at least sometimes would try to skip the weighing process, first because they might not want others to see the result (especially underaged people who wouldn't like to be accountable for their parents because they ate a double meal at McDonald's, etc.) and second because having to weigh yourself every time you come home might soon become boring and annoying. So they'd try to step over the mat, enter the house through a back door, etc. Also, this would be like a check-in to the house system, so parents would have a register if (and perhaps when) their child came home last night and also the same for their husband/wife, so it would become a means of control in that sense.
So perhaps the best would be to make the weighing optional, the scale could stand at a side of the entrance, it could be implemented in the floor/pavement near the door, it could also have a cover that would slide on and off by pressing a button so that you could walk on it when not in use. That way the dynamics of collective motivation would be a bit different, people would still see each other's progress or regress, but only when the individual wants it, so if someone is visibly skipping the weighing often, everyone would know and that person would feel like they are leaving themselves behind.

Anyone not wanting to participate would not identify themselves when stepping on the mat. If the mat doesn't know who to assign the data to, it doesn't assign it to anyone. Or they could step over it if they don't want to be weighed at that moment.
The idea is for the household members to look at it as a game and want to participate/compete.

Here are some examples of the doormat scales: here and here. There is also a version of the bathroom mat with a smart scale and related app.

Juran If the bathroom mat already sends the data into the cloud then the rest is just a matter of software and displaying the data.
Also identifying different people has to be solved. Maybe the bathroom mirror can have a built-in display as Miloš Stanković suggested. The scale would identify each person based on the approximate weight. Their avatar would show up on the mirror/screen. If incorrect, the person could click a different user's avatar to fix it.

Darko Savic Our toes have unique prints just like our fingers. Maybe scanning them is the easiest and quickest way to identify the family members. The technology is already there, too. The idea is possible with the modified bathroom rugs, not the doormat due to the footwear.

That is a pretty cool solution. It adds a bit to the price but seems worth it.
The top of the scale itself could be a touchscreen monitor with an under-the-screen optical toeprint reader. The rest of the screen's real estate could be used to display the graphs, tips, etc. This would make it a finished product without requiring an additional external monitor.
