Taxis and utility vehicles painted in E-ink that changes on demand so that the client can customize the car's look for the duration of the ride.
Why?
Always ride in your own custom-skinned car.

Car owners are likely to make more money from ads than from rides.
How it works
Taxis, utility vehicles, and trucks are fully dressed in E-ink which makes it possible for people to customize their design via a mobile app.
E-ink technology is used to control the color via electric impulses. When it's time for a section to change color, it receives an electric impulse to change:
In the above video, BMW uses black and white but full color should be possible as well:
The passenger puts their own skin design on the cab
For the duration or their taxi ride, the passengers can put their own design on the cab. There is a phone app that lets people design and upload their skins on the car.
Marketplace for cab skins
A marketplace that functions similarly to Google ads. The highest bidder gets to place their skin on:
number of cabs
at specific times of day
while the cabs pass through specific areas
a combination of the above
If anyone wants to display something urgently, they just have to outbid all others.
Full van/truck ads
The same principle applies to bigger vans and trucks. They can be skinned by advertisers via bidding or by the client while the van/truck is hired to transport something.
How about a taxi or Uber-like app that connects passengers with advertisers via e-ink. Depending on who is driving in the cab, the car changes to a specific company's ad. In return, the advertisers pay for the ride or at least discount it for the passenger.
How it works:
An individual creates a profile, fills in his form, links his LinkedIn, Instagram, or Twitter, and based on his interests the app makes suggestions to advertisers on whether the individual is worthy of being a "mobile influencer" for them.
So if you are a fitness Instagram model, you'd get them coming out of a vehicle with your healthy food product. If you have a business person with a strong following on LinkedIn, the car would have a SAAS company advertising on it.

One problem that crossed my mind is how disturbing or attention-seeking could be to display dynamically changing ads on the cars in traffic? When I was a kid, my friend got fined because he was having neon lights under the car. The reason was that it was distracting other cars and causing more crashes. When I checked online, the underglow is still banned in most countries. Would this dynamically changing advertising be too disturbing for the proper traffic functioning?

J. Nikola by the time this comes into use, people won't be driving themselves. Manual-driven cars will only be allowed on dedicated tracks. Driving will be an adrenaline sport.

Darko Savic J. Nikola I would argue that this is highly hypocritical of the lawmakers, as billboards are so bright and changing, frequent and overconsuming in a lot of city centres. And people drive there too. Usually, they are also sexual, so primal in attracting attention.
This e-ink app could just make it impossible for the changes to happen while on highways or at times when you're driving over X kilometres per hour.
