A double glass vessel that is both a vase and a drink glass at the same time.
Why?
  • An original, aesthetic way of serving and consuming drinks.
  • Especially fitting for couples, people on dates, etc.
  • When someone asks for water for their flowers, give them both that and a drink - all in one.
  • A tool for various catering establishments to attract people and make more money.
  • A nice thing to have at home for your guests, family, and yourself.
How it works:
The vessel has two concentric compartments, the center one is filled up with water and cut flowers are sank in it, the peripheral one is filled up with a drink which is consumed through long, bend straws while the flowers rest in the middle compartment.
Such vessels can come in various sizes, depending on how many people will share the vase-glass and how much drink they want to consume.
Catering establishments that don't want to bother about getting flowers to put in vase-glasses and serve together with drinks, could only offer them to customers who ask to bring some water for the flowers they already brought with them. They could offer discounts, special offers, etc. for drinks served in a vase-glass.
However, for those businesses who don't mind investing more in this, it could lead to a bigger thing, one could combine different drinks/cocktails with various plant combinations in the vase and make a whole new "botanical" menu of this. A bar could partner with a nearby flower shop to achieve that. Such drinks would be more expensive for their aesthetic value and to justify the cost of plants.
Pay more to take the flowers with you after you finish the drink, if you don't want that, the staff will keep them sank somewhere and reuse them for the next customers ordering a similar combination.

Why not just put the flowers together with a drink?

J. Nikola Because it's not good for the flowers and it would affect the taste of the drink, also some plant parts would fall into the drink. Some plants are also at least slightly poisonous and soaking them in (especially alcoholic) beverages that you then drink is not a good idea, it's also way easier to put in and move the straws in a free compartment than that with the flowers

Povilas S I agree with the taste, straw placement/movement and the fact that it would not benefit the plants. On the other hand, I assume that you wouldn't use poisonous plants in your invention either. Also, falling plant parts are a problem that exists no matter in which compartment you put a drink. A small net could protect your drink from falling leaves and petals.

J. Nikola Yes, the net is not a bad idea, just that it would ruin the aesthetics a bit. You are right about the parts falling into both compartments, just that it should be way less of them in the peripheral one. The flower bouquet could be adjusted to try keeping the parts out of the drink compartment.
About poisonous plants - quite many common ornamental plants are poisonous to a lesser or greater extent, examples: Oleander, Lilly of the valley, Bird cherry. Avoiding poisonous plants would be an additional task, it's way easier to just use a separate compartment.

This could be great for weddings with round tables, that way the group would be more focused on each other. Make the drinking more fun as you could see who had the biggest sip. There are already cocktail bars that offer drinking from a large bowl for multiple people with a straw. It would be harder to spill the drink which is important at places where everyone is in their best clothes.
Would also take a bit of load off from the waiters at weddings as they wouldn't have to make as many rounds back and forth to the table to bring each individual a drink. Bartenders too, just make one giant cocktail instead of eight. *Instead of flowers in the middle, there could also be a hidden message or a photo within a vase that the group could reveal only by drinking the coloured liquid.
