The idea is to come up with net-positive games where everyone involved benefits from the experience. This results in the player doing good in their environment rather than removing themselves out of society for extensive periods of time (gaming).
Games are activities that people do for fun. The fun part comes from the regular release of feel-good neurotransmitters (dopamine, serotonin, oxytocin, endorphins). The imminent possibility of the next "feel-good hit" is what keeps the players engaged in the game.
Games use fun to keep the player engaged.
The engagement is repetitive in some way or another.
Repetition results in the creation and perfection of skills/knowledge.
Skills are automatically reused in the future whenever the opportunity arises.
The outputs of a game are:
a) the rewards for the players (feel-good hits, prizes)
b) the skills/knowledge for the players
c) potential effect on the surroundings (other people, etc)
The idea is to come up with fun games that are maximally beneficial to the player and their surroundings. It doesn't matter what form the games are in (in real life, software-based, online, self-played mind games, etc).
If you're going to spend your valuable time playing games at least try to go for the type of games that leave you and the world slightly better for it.
Below is an example of what such a game would look like.
