An industrial dust extraction fan connected to a flexible pool cleaning hose via a funnel and used as a DIY home vacuum cleaner.
Why?
A cheap DIY central vacuum cleaner that:
  • leaves absolutely no dust particles in the air
  • needs no filters to be replaced, ever
  • needs no maintenance
  • is stronger than any commercial vacuum cleaner
How it works
  1. An industrial dust extraction fan that you place outside your house for the duration of vacuuming
  2. A makeshift rigid funnel can be made from a bucket that fits the fan on one side. A hole is drilled in the bottom of the bucket. You can engineer something elegant or you can just duct tape the bucket to the fan.
  3. A flexible pool hose connects to the bucket/funnel on one end and goes through an open window into the house.
  4. A standard vacuum cleaner handle with a brush is connected to the pool hose inside the house.
  5. There you go.
You can down-regulate the suction strength by drilling/covering small holes into the bucket. If you vacuum anything that shouldn't be vacuumed you can find it in the yard.
You can build a makeshift trolley that holds the fan and the rolled-up hose.

Install an industrial fan on the roof, implement the system of cleaning hoses around the house (like water pipes) with openings in every room, just attach the handheld cleaning hose in every room and do the vacuuming.

That's pretty much central vacuum cleaning, except that it's not on the roof. The dust still goes into a filter that people need to clean/replace

Great idea! How would you move through the house? Would you just use a very long hose or do you think of changing the windows and the outdoor position of the industrial fan?

J. Nikola a very long hose ideally. You would put it through different windows when appropriate
