PROBLEM
Everyone has a story about a package that was broken or permanently damaged during transport. Delivery services usually don't have time to sort between the things that break easily and the ones that don't, neither do they have the time to read about the contents of the package. This leads to things like them folding vinyl records or motherboards, completely ruining them.
BENEFITS
  • Convenience. It would be nice if you could order a glass sculpture and not have to worry about whether it will get to you in pieces.
  • Specialization. By ordering all the fragile goods from one service, It allows the other services to just focus on getting things to you fast.
  • Improved customer satisfaction. Customers are not pleased when their packages are damaged so not damaging them would make them want to buy more products.
  • Sustainable business model. There is always someone wanting to buy something all the time. Personally, I'd order a monitor right now if I knew it would get to me in one piece.
  • Saves on wastage. Some products once damaged have to be replaced, this just wastes precious resources.
How It Works
It's a point to point arrangement. You buy something online then the service picks them up for you. It could also partner with relevant businesses to be their fragile goods delivery option listed on their website. They would then contact you when they got their hands on your package and plan a meeting point or a drop-off address for a person to person hand-over

I wonder if there isn't a company like that already existing. Have you researched this? I just did a quick web search myself, I didn't find a separate company for this, but it seems that every parcel delivery business has a separate section on their website dedicated to fragile items. I also think that the possibility of a company that deals only with fragile items existing somewhere is very high. However, if such company (ies) are unpopular enough mostly not to be heard of, I think your idea still qualifies as original. I agree that a separate company dealing only with fragile items would be convenient for customers.

Povilas S I wish there was. This idea is based on me trying to find a reliable way to get things to me without them breaking. I did find that option but the reviews implied the service wasn't any different from a normal delivery.
