A platform where tinkerers exchange their half-finished projects with others who are willing to finish them on Youtube for everyone to see.
Why?
  • With time tinkerers amass loads of parts and components for various projects. Some of which never get completed because people lose interest, procrastinate, and move on to new projects.
  • Half-finished projects clutter the tinkerer's work and/or living spaces because they theoretically plan on completing them someday.
  • Having the clutter removed from your spaces and seeing your old projects completed by someone else is not bad either.
How it works
If you're a tinkerer, chances are you have a few half-made projects laying around and cluttering your place for ages.
Similar to how people share ideas for which they don't have time to build, I propose that tinkerers (builders, engineers, etc) pass on their half-built projects to others who are willing to complete them.
There would be a platform where people post their unfinished project's photos/videos and description. They explain what they were going to build, which components they have, how far they got, what's left to do, what knowledge they can pass to the person willing to complete the project, etc.
Depending on the value, the person may list the project for free or with a price if the parts were expensive.
People then bid on the projects.
Reviews
Feedback and reviews are mandatory. A person's track record determines whether or not they will be selected to take on other projects in the future.
Youtube build videos
By bidding they commit to video document the build process and share it on Youtube within a deadline they themselves defined. The project owner then selects whichever bidder was the most convincing or suitable to take over.
They deliver all the parts/knowledge to the new builder.

The problem of someone silently "stealing" the project

With this, the same problem arises as how to sell your idea without it being stolen. I suppose here the main difference is that the original creator would sell all the materials and the job half-finished in the physical form, but still, someone might just read about their project, get the point of how to do it, and try doing it on their own from scratch. Wouldn't the author be disappointed then?
If the project is passed on for free, then still the problem of ownership and completion remains. I suppose the idea is that one person (or a group of people) is selected as someone who will continue with that project, but if all the information was freely available, anyone could potentially do it without even letting the author know that they will.
So both the author and the person who was officially selected as the novel owner of the project could find out with time that someone already did it without them even knowing about it.

Transfer of job also entails the transfer of ownership of the product, right? Or is the product under joint ownership. The latter will create more complications like if the original owner was also the conceptualizer of the product, they will ask for more than 50% ownership in the final product. Also, if the second owner did most of the work, there might be a conflict.

Shubhankar Kulkarni I assumed transfer of ownership. The original tinkerer gets to see it made
