Willpower and self-control are likely finite resources. If our physical endurance can be expanded by training, can the same be done for willpower? What exercises could we do to increase our willpower endurance?

Goals can be achieved systematically if you measure them. To measure the goal, you need to know where you stand. Create a test to measure your willpower first. The test needs to be conducted by someone else. They will give you a task to solve. The task is actually unsolvable but you don't know that. You try solving it and give up at a point. The time you spend trying is the measure of your willpower. If you get a score of 20 minutes, set a goal of 40 minutes or 1 hour. Try different techniques to improve your willpower and then measure your willpower again.

Hardship can be viewed as an opportunity if you look at it from the perspective of training

You go to the gym to lift weights - an activity that eats your energy and makes you suffer temporarily. As a result, you get leaner, healthier, and stronger.

Whenever you come across a task that you would like to do but cannot muster the willpower to begin, realize that THIS is your opportunity for willpower training. It doesn't (yet) matter if you fail at it. The only thing that matters is that you get up and start doing it!
