A street vending machine where comedians make you laugh via 2-way video. You insert a coin but get it back if the comedian can't make you laugh.
A fun activity on the streets.
Comedians get to practice their material while making some money from the comfort of their homes.
A way for good comedians to gain followers.
A big LCD screen with a coin acceptor is placed on a busy street. It enables a two-way video chat between passersby and a comedian sitting at home.
The comedian invites people to insert a coin for a bet. If s/he can make them laugh s/he keeps the coin otherwise the machine returns it.
A comedian with amazing material could offer to double people's money if s/he fails to make them laugh.
The machine recognizes people and saves their profiles for the future. The comedian attaches a note with each profile so that the next time the same person comes to play, the comedian sees what to expect. Is it a person who is known to keep a poker face? Is it someone who never laughs? If so, the comedian might say "Oh I remember you. I give up, here's your coin back."
Using facial recognition also helps the comedian avoid reusing the same material on the same audience.
An extenssion of an online platform
Such comedian vending machines could be connected to this online platform where comedians make people laugh 1 on 1. In order to be eligible to appear on one of the screens, comedians need to maintain a high success rate.
Once a comedian gets on one of the vending machine screens, they keep their spot as long as they can maintain a uninterrupted streak of making people laugh. The comedian needs to attract at least one person per 10 minutes.
In the event the comedian fails to make someone laugh or does not attract a passerby for more than 10 minutes, they lose the gig, and another comedian takes their place.
