Scanning a QR code on food packaging opens a video showing the entire manufacturing process, step by step.
Why?
Customers can then feel more confident that their food is safe.
How it works
Add a QR code to each product's packaging. When scanned, the code translates to a video link. The entire manufacturing process and all of the ingredients are thoroughly explained.

If the manufacturer uses a proprietary recipe that cannot be shared, make that known but go to great lengths of explaining how/why your ingredients are not harmful.
This could be:
Optional, if you can make the customers trust your products without divulging your manufacturing process. Your competition might gain an advantage by sharing theirs.
Mandatory, just like food declarations are mandatory.

Restaurants could have QR codes next to menu items that direct diners to videos of the specific meal being prepared. This would serve less of an educational purpose than your original idea, but could be a cool gimmick for restaurants to entice people to order food. 
Seeing the chef prepare the meal has always been popular, which is why many restaurants are built around an open kitchen so people can watch the kitchen operating, this could serve a similar purpose.

A way to raise awareness about animal cruelty

To see the entire process of meat manufacturing, you'd have to watch how animals are grown and how they're slaughtered. Nobody would want that, right? Well, that's the paradox - if you can eat it, why should it be unpleasant for you to watch the production process? I think it should be mandatory to put such QR codes showcasing the ENTIRE production process of meat products, to bring some true transparency about what we eat. 
A similar, but less dramatic situation would be watching all the fruits and vegetables being watered with fertilizers and sprayed with pesticides multiple times.
There is a documentary called "Our daily bread" which aims for similar transparency, it displays objective footage from various sectors of the food industry without exaggerating or concealing anything. I think it doesn't show the slaughtering part but does show the forced breeding of the animals, the routine painful vet procedures, etc. It also shows the extensive spraying of crops.

To make it less radical, the slaughtering could be blurred. The viewer would still know what is going on behind the blurred part of the screen.
The viewer would have to confirm they are over the legal age to see the video.

Great idea! Manufacturing videos are common. I have watched several food products being manufactured. I don't think the manufacturers would have a problem sharing them. They can blur or not show the "secret" ingredients and processes. I have also watched videos where the manufacturer shows the ingredients and says that "its contents are secret". :)
