Hi John! I like the idea because my friend was going through this phase recently. If the app existed, it would help him a lot. But I am interested in the concept.
A simple list of volunteering options could probably be retrieved by geo-tagged google search (keyword "volunteering)". From your example, I couldn't find a connection with Uber, but I think it's a great one. Therefore, I had some ideas on how to create an Uber-inspired service for lost souls:
The ride would start and end at the same place. You could choose the type of problem from the list (examples: "I feel depressed", "I am sad", "I am not good at anything", "I have issues with my parents/girlfriend", etc.). According to your problem, the app would search for drivers who are experts in the field and can maybe help you. It would be like a ride around the city with a friend who is willing to listen to you and maybe give you some words of advice (similar to carpool karaoke, but without karaoke). Of course, the ride would be more expensive than the regular one.
The app would function like a community that connects people with same problems. You would read and post about your problems, divided in categories and organise a walk, bike ride or a short trip to nowhere with people you share thoughts with.
What were your thoughts when you described your idea as an "Uber" type of service?
Was it similar to something mentioned above?
