A platform where you can search among products and services that come highly recommended by people you trust and people they trust. They are held accountable for their recommendations.
Why?
  • Easily find good products/services that come highly recommended by trustworthy people.
  • Give your personal endorsements to great companies you have dealt with.
  • Ability to hold people accountable for their recommendations.
How it works
This would make sense as an add-on to a popular social media platform like Facebook or anything that the majority of your friends are using.
You specify which of your friends you completely trust and respect their opinion. They do the same for their friends. This creates a trust-by-proxy network where you can opt to see endorsed products or services 2 or more levels deep (friends of friends).
The platform has an internal review/rating system for any products and services.
Endorsment system
Whenever you run into a business that you absolutely love because of their stellar service or great products you can endorse/vouch for them with your name. When you do that, the entire network of people who trusts your opinion and everyone who trusts their opinion will be likely to do business with that company or individual. Even though those people might not know you, they trust you by proxy.
Compaints/disappointments
Whenever someone goes for a recommended product/service but ends up being disappointed they lodge a complaint through the network. Everyone in the chain between the person who endorsed the business and the person who was disappointed gets to see the event and participate in a group chat about it. Complaints are resolved by one of the following options:
  • the original endorser removes the endorsement
  • the complainer removes the complaint (if they managed to resolve it)
  • anyone in the chain breaks it by removing someone from their list of trusted friends
  • what else could be a good option?
Search feature
This is where the system is the most useful. We've all asked our friends "Do you know someone good who can do X for me?". Now you can search instead of asking.
An AI/GPT3 powered search helps you find service providers or products even when you don't know the proper name for them. For example, you could type in: "I need someone who can create a metal construction for my solar array" and the search results would show you welders, installers of solar panels, etc. "I need legal help" would turn up lawyers.

What do you think about differences in tastes and preferences among people? What is good for one is bad for another one and vice versa.

Taste differences apply in some cases. Those recommendations should come with a warning. On the other hand, there is not much room for taste when recommending a good installer of windows, welder, etc.

Darko Savic In some spheres taste differences signify really much. A psychologist good for one, may be absolutely not good for another person. The same about teachers. Of course, there are universal specialists good for everyone. However, some specialists may be really the best for some kind of people, while being inappropriate for others.

Mikhail Korsanov In that case a person might discover that someone whose opinion they value might not be so valuable to them and should consider removing that person from their shortlist.

I like the idea, could be useful. Sometimes, a product turns out to be bad just because of a simple unintentional error. I don't think anyone has to suffer just because of one bad review in the chain. How about adding an "explanation" or "replacement" service? If one consumer complains, the service provider or manufacturer explains to the consumer; the explanation goes public so that everybody in the chain can view it. If required, the service or product can be replaced. This will give a chance to the people responsible to not lose their following due to an error.

Shubhankar Kulkarni yes, in this case the complainer removes the complaint once the issue has been resolved
